Open Coil Springs

Closed coil spring

The coils of these springs are not only tightly wound, but also located on the same helical shaft. 
Both open coil spring and closed coil spring have ground ends to make them smooth. The closed coil spring with grinding edge is called ground closed coil spring. Ground also helps to increase the diameter of the spring.
